Letters to the Editor
The interview with President A.P.J. Abdul Kalam (July 28) is interesting. The architect of the SLV3 has outlined his vision. Coming to the satellite launch vehicle scenario, it is worth making an introspection. At the time of the SLV-3's launch, the country was technologically lagging behind the U.S. and the former USSR. Now, the gap seems to have widened. It is time we reorient our programmes so that we do not pursue the beaten track. At the same time we should encourage and implement innovative ideas on various fronts.
