Karthikeyan still ahead

SIVAKASI: P. Karthikeyan of Chennai beat K. Priya Dharshan of Madurai in the seventh round and continued to be the sole leader with 6.5 points in boys' section in the T.P. Textiles Tamil Nadu State junior (under-19) chess championship here on Thursday.

Priya Dharshan is in joint-second spot with 5 points with four others viz. the defending champion P. Maheswaran of Sri Kaliswari College, Sivakasi, M. Dustagir Ibrahim, T.U. Navin Kanna and M. Shyam Sundar.

In the girls' section, P. Sivasankari of Tiruvallur continued to be the sole leader with 6.5 points, with R. Preethi of Madurai in the second spot with 6 points.
