McDowell Q1 net up 90 p.c.

BANGALORE: UB Group company, McDowell and Company, has recorded a 90 per cent jump in its net profit at Rs. 10.38 crore for the first quarter of the current fiscal against Rs. 5.46 crore during the same period last fiscal. Volumes of McDowell's lead brands grew 23 per cent from 4.5 million to 5.5 million cases. Increased input costs continued to render certain low-end brands unviable and consequently overall sales for the quarter stood at 6.7 million cases, compared to 6.37 million cases sold during the same period last year.
