Rain hampers Sri Lanka's practice match

DAMBULLA: : Rain on Thursday evening disrupted the warm-up match the Sri Lankan team was playing at the Rangiri Dambulla Stadium ahead of the Indian Oil Cup tri-series. The host plays India in the lung-opener on Saturday.

The pitch seemed a slow turner while the outfield was fast, as was evident when Sanath Jayasuriya sent Nuwan Zoysa crashing past point in the first session of the day/night clash.

There was cross wind and sufficient indication that there would be some early movement in the four matches to be played in this town. The caravan moves to Colombo thereafter.

Light net session

The Indian team had a light net session in the morning. It was originally intended to be a day of rest, as the side had played a warm-up match against a Kurnegala Invitation XI on Wednesday.

The focus at practice was on cricket skills. The bowlers were asked to concentrate on accuracy and the batsmen on tightening their technique. The Indians spent the afternoon at the pool.

Dhoni had complained of thigh strain after the match on Wednesday and Laxman of a back niggle. Manager Sanjay Jagdale said there were no injury concerns. — Special Correspondent
