Venkatesh Chittari, director of the foundation, said in a press release that the foundation will hold an on-the-spot painting competition on the subject "India of my dreams" for schoolchildren on August 7 to mark Independence Day. He said the foundation proposes to exhibit the works on a 1,100-ft-long sheet on August 15 at Vikas Bhavan here. The best paintings will be selected for prizes on the occasion. Mr. Chittari said the foundation will hold a painting competition to commemorate World Environment Day observed every year on June 5. Students may paint on any subject of their choice pertaining to the environment. The works should reach the office of the foundation by August 7. Select paintings will get prizes and all works will be displayed at an exhibition to be held on a later date. He said a poetry and essay competition in English, Kannada and Hindi have been organised to commemorate Teacher's Day. While the subject chosen for the essay competition is "The role of teachers in transforming students into nation builders," the subject for the poetry competition is "Teacher: an inspiration." The competition is open to all students studying in higher primary and high schools. Entries should reach the office of the foundation by August 20.
