`Bhoomi Puja' for the Eureka Nursery Primary School was held recently

CHENNAI: Seven months after the tsunami struck, AID-India is on to its next phase — rehabilitation.

To mark the beginning of the rehab work, the `Bhoomi Puja' (foundation ceremony) for the Eureka Nursery Primary School was held recently at Kalpakkam.

Sella Bank supports the project.

Preventive health care

In its previous phase of relief operations, the organisation worked in 80 villages providing provisions, preventive health care support, temporary shelters and constructed balwadis in eight villages.

"We repaired about 146 boat engines and 16 boats and also provided a few boats. We provided nets in 17 villages. Along with the joint effort of SCOPE, we were able to provide 83 sets of nets with accessories to the affected in Uyyalikkuppam," Cynthia Xavier, an AID co-ordinator said.

The NGO is also conducting science-training camp for teachers to make effective use of simple science experiment kits and audio visual aids provided to them.

Training camp

About 40 volunteers attended a science-training camp conducted at the Spring Field Higher Secondary School on Sunday.
