CHENNAI: With two teams of officials deputed by the Election Commission already commencing the review of the electoral rolls revision process in some parts of the State on Thursday, one more team will join on Friday, according to the Chief Electoral Officer, Naresh Gupta. He told reporters here on Thursday that the Secretaries, accompanied by Under Secretaries in the teams, would be reviewing the process of disposal of claims and objections, besides conducting random checks to ensure publication of error-free rolls. The team comprising Tapas Kumar, Secretary, and Anuj Jaipuriar, Under Secretary, reviewed the work at Ponneri (Reserved) and Poonamallee in Tiruvallur district and also Sriperumpudur (Reserved) in Kancheepuram district on Thursday. They would be visiting the Tiruvannamalai constituency in Tiruvannamalai district on July 29, Villupuram segment in Villupuram district on July 30, and Kurinjipadi in Cuddalore district on July 31. The second team consisting of A.K.Majumdar, Secretary, and N.N. Butolia, Under Secretary, had already visited Pollachi and Tiruppur in Coimbatore district. Review would be taken up in Erode segment in Erode district on July 29 and Tiruchengode in Namakkal district on July 30. It would visit Karur constituency in Karur district, Ariyalur in Perambalur district and Uppiliapuram (Reserved) in Tiruchi district on July 31 and August 1. The third team comprising K.R.Prasad, Secretary, and S.K.Rudola, Under Secretary, would conduct the review in Vellore district on Friday. They would also visit Paramakudi (Reserved) and Ramanathapuram segment in Ramanathapuram district and also Sattur in Virudhunagar district on July 30, Theni and Periyakulam in Theni district on July 31 and Palani (Reserved) and Dindigul segments in Dindigul district on August 1. The final electoral rolls for 193 Assembly constituencies would be published on August 31 and publication of final rolls for 39 segments in the Corporation areas is slated for September 15, Mr. Gupta said. The rolls had already been published for Kancheepuram and Gummidipoondi constituencies, where byelections were held in May.
