Basaweswara Degree posts win

BANGALORE: Basaweswara Degree and Surana, the fancied teams, cruised through their opening matches without much fuss on the opening day of the three-day inter collegiate volleyball/throwball tournament organised by the Athens Youth Club, Mahalakshmipuram at the Shankara Mutt Park court here on Thursday.

The results: Boys: Basaweswara (Degree) bt JSS 25-12, 25-21; Kumarans bt Cathedral 25-9, 25-23; St. Joseph's bt Vidyaniketan 25-18, 25-21; Surana bt Sidaganga 25-14, 25-23.

Girls: SBM Jain bt Seshadripuram 25-21, 25-18; Jyothi Nivas bt MLA 25-18, 25-15.
