KOTTAYAM: Munnar, which has not recovered from the shock following the death of eight persons in landslips, experienced a series of landslips for the fourth consecutive day on Thursday. A massive landslip on the Kochi-Madurai highway, nearly 2 km from Munnar town on the Devikulam route, disrupted traffic for over four hours. The incident took place near the Government College which was heavily damaged in a landslip on Wednesday. Meanwhile, Balan, 40, of the tribal settlement colony at Edamalakkudi, who had high fever, died on Thursday. It is said that he did not get effective medical aid. District authorities disbursed financial assistance of Rs. 50,000 each to next of kin of those killed in Tuesday's landslips. The relatives of two more victims are yet to collect the money. Six persons who have been admitted to hospital with injuries sustained in the landslips were given Rs. 1,000 each.
