THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Chalachitra, one of the premier film societies in the State, is offering a rich fare to cineastes in the city. The 10th Trivandrum International Film Festival (TIFF), which begins at Kala Bhavan on Friday, has a rich repertoire of Indian, German, American, Croatian and Chinese films. Noted director Shaji N. Karun would formally inaugurate the festival at a function to be held at Kala Bhavan in the evening. `Hazarom Kwaishiyom Aise' directed by Sudheer Mishra is the inaugural film. Kerala State Film Development Corporation chairman P.V.Gangadharan would preside. Cultural councillor of Swedish Embassy Nicolas Trueway, the chief guest at the inaugural function, would release the festival book. Lenin Rajendran and K.R.Mohanan would offer felicitations. The festival would begin in the morning with the screening of `Nowhere in Africa' directed by Caroline Link at 8.30 a.m.
