KOZHIKODE: Action against amusement parks, which threaten to aggravate water scarcity, and steps to make Malayalam the medium of instruction from primary to secondary school are among the demands put forth by the All India Students Federation (AISF) at the end of its 36th State convention held in Kozhikode. The Education portfolio should be managed by political parties that have a national outlook and not regional parties as has been happening in the State, it said. It said management of education by regional parties and their inability to withstand pressures from communal and commercial groups were to blame for the grave problems in the education sector in the State. "Only national parties that have a broad national outlook can manage education efficiently," AISF State president K.S. Arun, and Mahesh Kakkath, State secretary, said at a press conference on Wednesday.
