THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: : The First Additional District Judge K. Sasidharan Nair on Thursday sentenced seven persons to life after they were found guilty of murdering two Communist Party of India (Marxist) (CPI(M) activists at Naruvamood, near Pallichal, in 1992. The persons sentenced to life are Suku alias `Chetta' Suku, 45, Suku alias Balu, 39, Aji Kumar, 37, Binu, 38, Aji Kumar 43 and his brothers Biju 39, and Saju 36. The prosecution case was that both Sudarsan and Chandran alias Santhosh, CPI (M) sympathisers were hacked to death by persons owing allegiance to the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), in front a cinema theatre near Pallichal at around 10.15 p.m. The judge has directed the first accused in the case to pay a fine of Rs.30,000 since he `played a pivotal role in accomplishing the crime.' In default of payment the accused shall undergo rigorous imprisonment for two more years, the judgment stated.
