VIZIANAGARAM: There has been a uniform one point increase in the consumer price index from May to June, 2005, at all the six centres that have been selected for constructing the CPI numbers on the basis of family living survey 1999-2000, according to Saroja Rama Rao, Director of Directorate of Economics and Statistics. At a press conference here on Thursday, Ms. Saroja said that a committee constituted for scrutiny and approval of the CPI had approved the uniform increase of one point in the consumer price index for industrial workers at six centres in the State - Vizianagaram-Chittivalasa, Kakinada-Rajahmundry, Jaggaiahpeta-Miryalaguda, Tirupati-Renigunta, Kothagudem-Palwancha and Nizamabad-Bodhan. She said that this would help the Department of Labour fix minimum wages for industrial workers. With regard to the ongoing economic survey, Mrs. Rama Rao said that the survey would reflect the lifestyle of people in urban and rural areas besides workers employed in the unorganised sector.
