RAJAHMUNDRY: Endowments Department on Thursday took possession of 34.33 acres of land worth Rs.1.50 crores in Peddapuram town. The Regional Joint Commissioner of Endowments GV Narasimha Murthy and Assistant Commissioner B.Venkataswamy along with Revenue and Police force took possession of the land belonging to Sri Rajah Vatsavai Butchi Seetaramaiah Chowltry in Peddapuram. According to Assistant Commissioner Venkataswamy, for 25 years P. Subba Rao of Vetlapalem village held the land for a rent of Rs.15,000 for the entire extent of 34.33 acres. The executive officer filed a case against the tenant before the Deputy Commissioner, Kakinada. The tenant approached the High Court against the orders of the latter. The court upheld the order and asked the dispute to be settled before the same officer. On Thursday the department took possession of the land and the Regional Joint Commissioner asked officials to conduct auction of the land immediately.
