VISAKHAPATNAM: All the districts in the State, except Visakhapatnam and Prakasam, received excess rainfall during the seven days from July 21 to 27. Visakhapatnam and Prakasam were in deficit of 35 per cent and 31 per cent respectively, according to a press release from the Cyclone Warning Centre here on Thursday.
Low pressure
The low pressure area and the revival of monsoon activity during the week (July 21 to 27) saw improved rainfall in all sub-divisions of Andhra Pradesh.
Excess rain 29%
The overall State average rainfall, which was four per cent in excess of long period average (LPA) during last week, increased to 29 per cent between July 21 and 27. When the seasonal rainfall (from June 1 to July 27) was taken into consideration the State average rainfall was 29 per cent in excess of LPA. However, the coastal districts received 216 mm rainfall, which was nine per cent less than the normal rainfall of 238.4 mm, while Telangana and Rayalaseema regions recorded 47 per cent and 43 per cent rainfall in excess, respectively. Telangana received 503.4 mm, against the normal rainfall of 341.5 mm, while it was 195.5 mm actual rainfall in Rayalaseema against the normal rainfall of 137 mm.
Deficit rainfall
In the coastal area, Prakasam, Visakhapatnam and Srikakulam districts were in deficit of 34 per cent, 22 per cent and 20 per cent during the season while it was normal in the other districts. In Telangana, Nalgonda received normal rainfall while it was in excess in other districts. All districts in Rayalaseema received excess rainfall until now.
