BELGAUM: Rain that lashed the district in June and again from Sunday have damaged property estimated at Rs. 17.27 crores. According to S.M. Sonnad, Headquarters Assistant to the Deputy Commissioner, here on Thursday, the district administration has sent a report about the loss of life and property to the Government and has requested sanction of an additional Rs. 6 crores to take up relief measures in the affected areas. Mr. Sonnad said the loss of property such as houses and other private buildings was estimated at Rs. 3.5 crores; Rs. 5.2 crores in respect of Public Works Department roads and buildings, Rs. 4.5 crores in respect of zilla panchayat-run schools and other buildings and Rs. 4.07 crores in respect of roads in Belgaum city.
