SVIMS to hold tele-conference with Kalam

TIRUPATI: Sri Venkateswara Institute of Medical Sciences (SVIMS) will hold a tele-conference with the President of India, A.P.J. Abdul Kalam, in coordination with Dr. Cherian's Frontier Lifeline Heart Foundation, Chennai, on Friday.

B. Vengamma, the dean and T. Raghuram Guptha, the medical superintendent of SVIMS will explain to Mr. Kalam the details and health condition of R. Sasidhar, M. Veeraiah and P. Tanuja, the poor children, who had undergone surgery at the super speciality hospital.

The telemedicine network established between SVIMS and Dr. Cherian's hospital will be used for the purpose.

The President is scheduled to visit Kerala on Thursday, from where he will interact with the SVIMS officials on the paediatric surgery cases. SVIMS is the only institution where the success rate of paediatric cardiac surgeries is very high and that the surgery is done free of cost under `Pranadanam' scheme.
