CHANDIGARH: The Vigilance Wing and Chief Engineers of the Haryana Irrigation Department have been directed to ensure proper checking of the ongoing flood control works in the State, the Irrigation Minister, Ajay Singh Yadav, said here on Thursday after reviewing the flood situation at a meeting. Capt. Yadav said that the officers would also maintain inspection registers so that every inspecting officer could record his observations or directions. He claimed that the State Government had made all preparations to tackle floods. The Government machinery was fully geared up to meet any emergency. About 25,000 acres of land in district Jind, 17,000 acres of land in district Hisar and 2,500 acres of land in district Bhiwani were facing floods thanks to the heavy rainfall during the past fortnight. Dewatering activities had been taken up on war footing.
