Total sanitation campaign soon

Special Correspondent

JAIPUR: The Rajasthan Cooperative Dairy Federation has decided to launch a State-wide total sanitation campaign in association with the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) at a cost of Rs. 1.80 crores.

The funds for the campaign will be provided by the National Dairy Development Board and the State Government's Water and Sanitation Mission.

The campaign will be run through the milk producers' cooperative societies, which will create awareness among the rural people on sanitation, use of iodised salt and safe motherhood. An official release issued here stated that women's committees would generate consciousness among women on personal cleanliness and hygiene.

The women will be educated about institutional deliveries to bring down the maternal and infant mortality rates. The RCDF will also make arrangements for regular check-up of pregnant women.

The release said information about the benefits of consuming iodised salt would be disseminated on a large scale.
