MYSORE: A native of Mysore, S. Pradeep, 46, Superintending Engineer in the Rigging Division of the Oil and Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC), is among those killed in the fire at Bombay High North Oil platform, 160 km off the Mumbai coast on Wednesday. ONGC officials in Mumbai called Pradeep's family members in V.V. Mohalla here on Thursday morning to convey the bad news. Family sources said Pradeep, who had obtained a BE in Instrumentation Technology from Sri Jayachamarajendra College of Engineering (SJCE) in Mysore, had been working with ONGC for 19 years. After graduating from SJCE, Pradeep joined the National Thermal Power Corporation (NTPC), where he worked for about a year before joining the ONGC. Pradeep is survived by his wife, Jayashree, and two daughters. The ONGC officials expect Pradeep's body to be brought to Mumbai tonight. After a post-mortem in Mumbai, the body will be flown to Bangalore, depending on the availability of flights. Flight services have been affected owing to heavy rain in Mumbai.
