Show cause notice to Congress MLA

CHENNAI: The Congress high command on Thursday issued show cause notice to the party MLA, S.G. Vinayagamurthi, asking him "why action should not be taken against him for his recent activities, which are against party's interest in the State."

Party general secretary Ambika Soni, in charge of Tamil Nadu, who signed the notice said it had been brought to the notice of the All-India Congress Committee by the Pradesh Congress Committee president and other State leaders that he had made public statements in the recent past which were contrary to the party's position and political thinking. His activities had embarrassed the party and had caused confusion among the workers and functionaries. She asked why action should not be taken against him. The MLA was given 10 days time for his reply.

Congress president Sonia Gandhi, is stated to have told the Union Minister of State, E.V.K.S. Elangovan, not to make any public statements against the DPA constituents.
