CHENNAI: Sathyam Cinemas and Ecotone, in collaboration with NatureQuest, are organising the fourth episode of the series "A morning with wildlife filmmakers", featuring a film on tigers and a discussion with Ullas Karanth, India's foremost authority on wild tigers. There will be two screenings of the film "Tigers - Fighting Back". The first one on Saturday, July 30, will be exclusively for school students. Shekar Dattatri, wildlife filmmaker, will anchor this show and interact with students. There will be repeat show on Sunday, July 31 for the general public between 10 - 11.30 a.m. at Sree Cinema. Dr. Karanth will speak about tigers and their conservation before the screening and interact with audience afterwards. Dr. Karanth is a renowned field biologist and highly respected for his work on tigers and their conservation. A pioneer, he was the first to use the technique of radio-tracking to study tigers in India. He has also developed a system of estimating tiger numbers in the wild by photographing them with remote cameras. In the film, "Tigers - Fighting Back" three wildlife biologists including Dr. Karanth, travel and work in different tiger habitats in India, Thailand and the Russian Far East, trying to understand the ways of the tiger; how they live, what they eat, and what habitats they prefer. The film travels from the tropical jungles of India to the muggy rainforests of Thailand and finally to the cold barrens of Siberia, following the elusive trail of the tiger. Free passes for the general show on Sunday are available at Ecotone (24315934). For more information about the show visit `events' section of www.ecotone.co.in.
