TDP president accused of being illogical in demanding scrapping of a `non-existent' ordinance

HYDERABAD: The Congress Legislature Party (CLP) has decried the Telugu Desam Party president N. Chandrababu Naidu's demand for scrapping a "non-existing ordinance" on municipal elections.

In a statement here on Thursday, Congress MLAs -- G. Muddukrishnama Naidu and N. Diwakar Rao -- and former MLA G. Prakash Rao said Mr. Naidu's campaign against the Congress Government was getting illogical with each passing day. Despite the fact that there was no such ordinance by the Government, he was demanding its withdrawal. Mr. Naidu, who was crying hoarse over the right given to MPs and MLAs in the municipal elections, should realise that it was an existing provision in the Panchayat Raj Act.
