THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: President A. P. J. Abdul Kalam said here on Thursday that a number of good books were appearing in Indian languages and English and efforts should be spared to translate them into other languages. The President was speaking at a brief function at the Raj Bhavan on Thursday evening at which the Chief Minister Oommen Chandy presented him with a copy of the Malayalam translation of his book - India 2020: a vision for the new millennium translated by the State Language Institute. Dr. Kalam said that the translators should enter into the minds of the authors while doing the translation. He said that he wrote the book to trigger the minds of political leaders, teachers, students and the youth. He was happy it had been translated into Malayalam. Minister for Culture A. P. Anil Kumar presented a copy of the special edition of the Vignana Kairali, a periodical published by the institute.
