No dam burst: police

MUMBAI: Police late on Thursday night denied that the Powai reservoir or any other reservoir in the city or adjoining areas had breached.

The clarification by the police came after hundreds of people in Dharavi, Kurla, Sion, Chembur and Antop hills came out on the streets carrying their belongings after rumours surfaced about breach in the Powai reservoir.

According to a television channel, 16 persons were killed in a stampede that occurred following rumours of the ``dam burst'' spread across the city.
