India meets Spain first

Chennai: India faces Champions Trophy winner, Spain, in a Pool `A' encounter on the opening day of the Rabobank Trophy eight-nation hockey tournament, described as the mini World Cup, to be held at Amstelveen from August 14 to 21.

Apart from Spain, the other teams in the Pool are, World champion, Germany, and archrival, Pakistan. Olympic champion, Australia, tops Pool B with England, Netherlands and South Korea.

The schedule:

Aug. 14: England v South Korea (4 p.m. IST); India v Spain (6.30 p.m.); Aug. 15: Rest day. Aug. 16: India v Germany (4 p.m.); South Korea v Australia (6 p.m.); Spain v Pakistan (8.30 p.m.); Netherlands v England (11.30 p.m.); Aug. 17: England v Australia (8.30 p.m.); Netherlands v South Korea (11.30 p.m.); Aug. 18: India v Pakistan (8.30 p.m.); Spain v Germany (11.30 p.m.); Aug. 19: Pakistan v Germany (8.30 p.m.); Netherlands v Australia (11.30 p.m.); Aug. 20: Classification 7-8 and 5-6; Aug. 21: bronze medal match (4 p.m.); Final (6 p.m.). — Hockey Correspondent
