Karthikeyan beats Ven Prakash

SIVAKASI: P. Karthikeyan of Chennai, who was held to a draw by T.U. Navin Kanna in the eighth round, beat K.V. Ven Prakash in the ninth round and continues to be the sole leader with 8 points in the boys' section of the T.P. Textiles Tamil Nadu State junior (under-19) chess championship here on Friday. M. Shyam Sundar of Chennai, who beat defending champion P. Maheswaran, is in second spot with 7 points.

In the girls' section, P. Sivasankari of Tiruvallur despite being beaten by Nabeela Farheen of Chennai in the ninth round continues to be the sole leader with seven points. R. Preethi and S. Athirai are closely following the leader with 6.5 points.
