DAMBULLA: It is obviously difficult to lead a side in an international competition when eight members of the squad are from the `A' team. The contracts dispute has put West Indies cricket in a quandary. But skipper Shivnarine Chanderpaul is not going to allow that to distract his boys, ahead of his side's IndianOil Cup tri-series opening day-night match against India at the Rangiri Dambulla Stadium here on Sunday. "We are just thinking of what we have right now and we will deal with that," said the left-hander here. The West Indies may have lost both the Tests against Sri Lanka, but its performance was encouraging in that it extended the host. "We were good in some areas, we played well in patches. But we need to get it right to do it again here," said the Guyanese. "The Test series is over, it's behind us. We are looking forward to the one-day series. That's all we are thinking about right now. I think we stand an equal chance of winning the Cup. It's about who plays better on that day," he said. Chanderpaul said it hasn't been difficult motivating the young bunch. "The fellows are keen to work and play hard. That's a plus for us. The seniors help them in every way possible. Hopefully, they will learn quickly. The whole experience will do them good," he said. The skipper referred to the triumph in the last Champions Trophy. "None gave us a chance then, but we won," he said. The squad: S. Chanderpaul (capt.), D. Ramdin (wk), D. Powell, R. Powell, O. Banks, K. Jermey, D. Butler, S. Joseph, N. Deonarine, D. Smith, T. Best, J. Lawson, X. Marshall, R. Morton and R. Ramdass.
