Close call for trainee pilots

HYDERABAD: Bad weather led a trainee pilot to forceland his aircraft on the wetlands at Anazpur village at Hayatnagar on the city outskirts on Saturday evening. The trainee pilot and a co-trainee escaped unhurt.The aircraft belongs to the Flightech Civil Aviation Academy.

Police said the Cessna aircraft took off from the Flightech Civil Aviation Academy at Vanasthalipuram on a routine sortie. Around 4.15 p.m, due to bad weather, the trainee pilot had to forceland the aircraft near Ramoji Film City. Soon after the landing, Rohit and his co-pilot, Lata, emerged from the aircraft without injuries. The front portion of the aircraft got damaged.

A shocked Rohit told the police that he could not locate the runway at the academy because of poor light. The police said engineers of the Academy were looking into the technical details that led to the emergency landing.
