HYDERABAD: "Rajiv nagara baata'' will be a continuous programme of Chief Minister Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy. Dr. Reddy made this clear at a meeting here on Sunday to review the progress achieved under the programme. He told officials that the mass contact programme would continue till urban problems were solved. The solution to redress of urban problems, like 24-hour drinking water to every household, electricity, roads, streetlights, ration cards and house-sites lay in continuing the programme. The Chief Minister asked officials to get reports from Collectors about the feedback from beneficiaries. An official press release said 20,000 of 25,280 petitions received by Dr. Reddy during his visits as part of the programme had been addressed so far. He had visited 42 Urban Local Bodies (ULBs) in 16 districts under RNB since its launch on January 9 to enhance basic urban services.
Methodology
The methodology for the programme includes a Rapid Assessment and Feedback on Town (RAFT) which was prepared by research teams ahead of the Chief Minister's visit to an urban local body. Based on RAFT and public demands made during his visit, proposals were made by the Collectors for sanction of various developmental works. Weekly status reports were prepared after the works were approved. Dr. Reddy expressed satisfaction over the impressive performance by various districts in redress of grievances from the public and implementation of works taken up as a sequel to his visits.
