Isolated rain likely in Tamil Nadu

CHENNAI: Southwest monsoon has been active over Kerala.

Rainfall occurred at most places over Kerala, coastal Karnataka, at many places over Telangana, Lakshadweep and south interior Karnataka, and at a few places over coastal Andhra Pradesh. Isolated rainfall occurred over Tamil Nadu, north interior Karnataka and mainly dry weather prevailed over Rayalaseema.

The following stations recorded very heavy to heavy rainfall in Centimetres: Thodupuzha (Idukki dt.) 26, Valparai 19, Cial Kochi, Aluva (Ernakulam dt.), Madikeri 11 each, Gudalur Bazaar (Nilgiris dt.) 9, Nadvattam (Nilgiris dt.) 8.

The other chief amounts of rainfall recorded in Centimetres are: Myladi (Kanyakumari dt.), Thrissur and Puttur (Dakshina Kannada dt.) 6 each, Kozhikode, Kochi Airport, 5 each, Nagercoil, Thovali (Kanyakumari dt.), Kozhikode Airport, Perinthalamanna (Malapuram dt.), Panambur and Karkala (Udupi dt.) 4 each, Kanyakumari, Pollachi (Coimbatore dt.), Ketti (Nilgiris dt.), Kumarakom (Kottayam dt.), Kollam, Punalur, Mangalore Airport, Mangalore and Hassan 3 each, Kuzhithurai (Kanyakumari dt.), Cannur, Alapuzha, Kundapura (Udupi dt.), Belgaum Airport and Ramnagara (Bangalore Rural dt.) 2 each, Tenkasi (Tirunelveli dt.), Udumalpet (Coimbatore dt.), Koide and Perur (both Khammam dt.), Eturnagaram (Warangal dt.), Prakasam Barrage (Krishna dt.), Sirsi (Utara Kannada dt.), Shirili and Gulbarga 1 each.

FORECAST (Valid until Tuesday morning): Rain or thundershowers are likely to occur at most places over Kerala and coastal Karnataka, at many places over north coastal Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Lakshadweep and interior Karnataka and at a few places over south coastal Andhra Pradesh and Rayalaseema.Isolated rain or thundershowers is likely to occur over Tamil Nadu and Pondicherry.

HEAVY RAINFALL WARNING: Isolated heavy rain is likely to occur over Telangana, Kerala and coastal Karnataka during the next 48 hours.
