KOLLAM: As part of its community service programme, the Rotary Club of Quilon Lake City will distribute artificial limbs to 101 physically challenged persons. At a press conference here on Saturday, club president Alexander K. George said the project was being carried out in association with the U.S.-based Levies Willie Rotary Club and Rotary Artificial Limb Centre On Wheels attached to Rotary Club of Coimbatore Mid-Town. Artificial limbs will be distributed at a special three-week camp to be held at the Physical Medicine Department of the Kottiyam Holy Cross Hospital. Those interested in attending the camp are requested to register themselves with the Physical Medicine Department of the hospital or with club secretary Ajiraj G.R. on phone number 9895584643. Owing to technical reasons, the cases of only those who register will be taken up at the camp. Once the camp starts, registrations will not be accepted, Dr. George said. The club is also launching a mobile accident help line and trauma care unit. The unit will start functioning from Onam day. It will be located at a convenient point and will primarily serve accident victims. The unit will comprise a special ambulance and trauma care booths. The number on which it can be contacted would be informed later. The services of the unit would be free of cost, Dr. George said.
