Rain disrupts air services from Mumbai

NEDUMBASSERY: Flight services to and from the Cochin International Airport via Mumbai were disrupted for the second consecutive day after the Mumbai airport closed in the wee hours on Sunday morning owing to heavy rain.

Jet Airways cancelled one of its three services to Mumbai while the other two services were delayed by hours. Flight, 9W 405/406, which was to arrive here from Mumbai at 7.40 a.m. and depart at 8.30 a.m. came only at 1.30 p.m. and departed after an hour, while flight, 9W 401/402 scheduled to arrive at 12.20 p.m. and depart at 1.15 p.m. operated at 4.30 p.m. and 4.50 p.m. respectively.

Indian Airlines cancelled its services to and from Delhi; both routed via Mumbai. Later, the airline operated a flight in the Delhi-Kochi sector skipping Mumbai and returned via Thiruvananthapuram. Another service was operated in the evening in the Mumbai-Kochi-Mumbai sector to clear the backlog of passengers in this sector.
