KOLLAM : Anganwadi workers in the State under the banner of the National Anganwadi Employees Union will strike work on August 18 and stage a dharna in front of the Secretariat to press their demands for wage hike, pension benefits and a month's salary as festival allowance. — Staff Reporter

Artificial limbs to be distributed

KOLLAM: As part of its community service programme, the Rotary Club of Quilon Lake City will distribute artificial limbs to 101 physically challenged persons. At a press conference here on Saturday, club president Alexander K. George said the project was being carried out in association with the U.S.-based Levies Willie Rotary Club and Rotary Artificial Limb Centre On Wheels attached to Rotary Club of Coimbatore Mid-Town.

Artificial limbs will be distributed at a special three-week camp to be held at the Physical Medicine Department of the Kottiyam Holy Cross Hospital. — Staff Reporter

RSP(M) demands special fund

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Revolutionary Socialist Party of India (Marxist) on Sunday demanded that a special development fund should be formed for carrying out the 10-point programme put forward by President A.P.J. Abdul Kalam for the development of the State. Assistant secretary of the party State unit K.P. Sankaradas said that such a fund was required to carry out the proposals as the State was spending most of its revenue for non-developmental purposes. — Special Correspondent

Walk-in interview

KOZHIKODE: A walk-in-interview will be held for the post of Research Associate for an R&D project in the Department of Computer Engineering, National Institute of Technology, Calicut, (NIT-C) on August 3. The basic qualification is a first class B.Tech.(computer science and engineering\ IT\ electrical\ electronics\ communication\ MCA\ MSc computer science or equivalent with special interest in transforms\data compression\image compression or in related topics. Kozhikode: The State Youth Welfare Board Sahasika Academy has invited entries for adventure photography awards. Each award consists of Rs. 5,000 in cash and citation.
