Inter-School Art and Craft Competition
As many as 27 schools from Delhi, Noida, Greater Noida and Ghaziabad participated in the event. The students were divided into seven categories and there were several events like on the spot painting, cartoon making, poster designing, best of waste, rangoli and face painting. The prizes were given away by V.N. Sehgal , President of the Managing Committee, Vishwa Bharati Women's Welfare Association. The schools which bagged prizes included Cambridge School Noida; Bal Bharati Public School, Noida; Ryan International Noida; Amity International, Noida; Vishwa Bharati Public School, Noida; and Vishwa Bharati Public School, Daraka.
Skin check-up week
During this week, there would be free consultation on cosmetology and all skin diseases including hair loss, acne, psoriasis, warts, fungal infections, pigmentations and leprosy. Free medicines will also be provided to patients in special cases.
IGNOU extends date
NEW DELHI: The Indira Gandhi National Open University has announced that the last date for receipt of filled-in applications for masters degree in English, Hindi, History, Political Science, Economics, Sociology, Rural Development, Tourism Management, Library Science, Dietetics and Food Service Management and Commerce and bachelors degree programme in Arts, Commerce, Science, Social Work, Tourism Studies and Library Science have been extended up to August 31 with a late fee of Rs.200. Interested candidates can send their application forms to the regional centre in their area by the due date. The addresses of the centres are available at www.ignou.ac.in.
New symbol of allopathy
Giving details of the new symbol, the DMA president, K.K. Aggarwal, said after the Red Cross symbol was taken away from the medical profession, there was a dire need of a new symbol so that the public could easily identify it with allopathy or modern treatment. In the symbol `red' indicates emergency, `wheel' means life and `Rx' denotes prescription that are the highlights of the allopathic systems of medicine.
