JAMMU: A high-level meeting of senior army and police officers held today at the Tiger division headquarters of army near here, has decided to further strengthen security around the holy Mata Vaishno Devi cave and the famous Raghunath Temple. Highly placed sources said in Jammu that the meeting was attended by GoC Tiger division Maj. Gen. Vinay Sharma, Inspector General of Police (Jammu region) Dr. S.P. Vaid, Deputy Inspector General of Police (Udhampur-Doda) Satvir Gupta and senior police and army officers, besides representatives of intelligence agencies. Sources said the need to further strengthen security around the two famous religious shrines in Jammu was taken in view of the intelligence inputs that militants had plans to carry out fidayeen attacks at these holy places. Sources said the meeting decided to make more deployment in and around Katra town, besides carrying out routine searches in the Trikuta hills, the abode of Mata Vaishno Devi. It was also decided to augment security arrangements around the famous Raghunath Temple, already targeted twice by militants. It was also decided to utilise the services of men in mufti to keep an eye on suspicious persons.
