Life in Germany

CHENNAI: Max Mueller Bhavan is organising a workshop on `Fit for Germany,' to provide insights to frequent travellers to Germany, businessmen and others on etiquette, life-style, professional and public behaviour in Germany.

Biology gold medal

Anand Venkatraman of P.S. Senior Secondary School won a gold at the international biology olympiad held in Beijing in July 2005. G. Karthick of the same school who represented the country in the recently concluded International Chemistry Olympiad held in Taipei, Taiwan was awarded a silver medal.

Sanskrit classes

Eye clinic's charity

Abhinavas Eye Clinic, Adyar, has dedicated its extension facilities and the new equipment to Sri Bharati Tirtha Mahaswami of Sri Sharada Peetam, Sringeri, the Abhinava Vidya Tirtha Smaraka Bhavanam of Tattvaloka.

M. Karpaga Vinayakam, Judge, Madras High Court, A.N. Srinivasa Rao and T.R. Ramachandran of Tattvaloka, participated. The clinic has been expanded with the latest ophthalmic equipment and has plans to enlarge charitable activities in memory of A.R. Govinda Rao, Founder of the clinic, A.G. Ramesh, director said.

Medical camp

The Hindu Mission Hospital conducted a medical camp in which 210 patients were treated for various specialities. Fourteen cases were referred for eye and four for general surgeries.

The 5 S concept

K. Babu, retired manager, Rane Engine Valves, addressed students of Sri Sairam Institute of Management Studies on `Japanese Technology - 5 S Concept.' S. Seetharaman, Principal, participated.

Watchman murdered

A watchman of a finance company was found murdered on Sunday. A sum of Rs. 20 lakh was missing.

Bhagavat Singh Bahadur's body was found inside Prakash Mull & Sons Softech Systems office on Deivasigamani Street, off TTK Road. Police said the victim was strangulated to death on Sunday night. Royapettah police said Bahadur was employed with the finance company, owned by Gaurav Duggar and his brother, for the past 15 days.

Conductor held

A conductor has been held for assaulting his colleague. He was arrested after he slashed his colleague with a blade in an inebriated condition on Saturday evening. MKB Nagar police said Sathish had been arrested on charges of attempted murder.

He had inflicted injuries on his colleague Viswanathan's throat, shoulder and wrist. Viswanathan, admitted to the Stanley Medical College Hospital, is said to be out of danger. The police said the two conductors from the Vyasarpadi depot had an altercation regarding the transfer of the accused to 57F route.
