Snow World makes foray into ghoulish territory

Staff Reporter

Living Dead, Rain Forest animatronix projects add value

HYDERABAD: Thick vegetation, rain slamming down, anacondas dangling low from trees, caves that slide open and shut in a pitch dark ambience and hidden treasure troves with mummies inside! One is surely in the heart of a primeval Amazon rainforest.

A ghoul resort where skeletons and grotesque creatures fly in the air, letting out unearthly howls, devils sitting on the huge branch of a tree in a graveyard, and more devils chomping on human parts at the dinner table!

Snow World, the snow theme park, which recently added Cave Cart, an indoor go-carting arena, has now come up with two animatronix projects `Living Dead' and `Rain Forest'. "Placing these resorts next to each other could be an environmental message, as it conjures images of living forms as against the living dead," said Managing Director of Ocean Park and Snow World, Mr. Venkateswara Rao.

Package

He said the addition of two new projects would make the family trip to the snow park more worthwhile. "Many people felt that one hour in Snow World for Rs. 250 was not worth two hours of travel. So we are now offering a package which families can purchase to spend time in Ocean Park, Snow World, Kart Cave, Rain Forest and Living Dead for Rs. 350."

Modelled after resorts in USA and Australia using animatronix technologies, the Rain Forest and the Living Dead arenas were laid out over 7000 square feet at a cost of Rs. two crores. Both the projects will be open to the public from Monday.

For entertainment-starved families itching to get away for the weekend, the addition of these two projects will only prolong the weekend experience.
