VIJAYAWADA: In a measure similar to the corporate style of functioning, the RTA, Vijayawada, has set up a drop box facility on the premises of the Deputy Transport Commissioner's Office to collect feedback from customers. The transport officials are making special feedback forms available to customers so that they can simply tick any one of five choices, which show their satisfaction levels on various services offered at the RTA office. The choices include "very good, good, satisfactory, not good and very bad." The forms seek to collect customers' inputs on the conduct of the RTA staff, style of functioning, work culture and overall atmosphere in the office. The Deputy Transport Commissioner S.A.V. Prasada Rao said that this system was being adopted as the customers have not contributed well to the complaints box facility. The options make the task of customers lighter. This is part of various measures being taken by the transport officials for encouraging customers to make better use of transport services. The officials are monitoring the functioning of helpdesk recently inaugurated by Cooperation and Transport Minister Kanna Lakshminarayana at DTC Office recently. Expecting the citizen-RTA interface to improve further, the department has appealed to its customers to directly meet its officials. Customers can also contact telephone numbers 2480022, 2480044 or 9848045331. In the feedback forms, options are given against four to five points, seeking to know customers' satisfaction levels. An interesting aspect of it is the first point which seeks to know whether the RTA employees were courteous while providing the services. In a bid to make Helpdesk more effective, the officials have proposed to make it a facility totally managed by the public. Active involvement of users and related associations is being sought. The department is considering involving the Krishna District Lorry Owners Association (KDLOA), Auto Drivers Association, Indian Medical Association and Ex-Servicemen Associations. The officials say that the presence of a medical doctor on the RTA office premises has proved to be very useful to customers and it has avoided the problem of their seeking the assistance of middlemen that too by paying hefty amount. Applicants, who are above 40 years and those coming for issue and renewal of transport licence are required to produce a medical certificate. Following a request, the Indian Medical Association has nominated a doctor to be present in RTA office from 10.30 am to 1.30 pm.
