Free medical camp conducted

A free medical camp was conducted at Ranigarithota on Sunday by a team of doctors from Jayanthi clinic.

Chairman of VGTM UDA Malladi Vishnu inaugurated the camp. Besides conducting health check-up, doctors also distributed medicines free of cost. Residents of Krishnalanka division attended the camp and underwent health tests.

Elected to Jana Vignana Vedika

V. Srinivas and V. Murali Mohan have been elected president and general secretary respectively of the Krishna district committee of the Jana Vignana Vedika (AP).

The committee met here on Sunday. State vice-president of the vedika K.L. Kantha Rao called upon the members to launch a campaign against superstitions.

TDP leader surprised over suspension

Suspended TDP leader Adusumilli Jayaprakash has expressed surprise over the decision of the party's State leadership and termed it as "mere machinations of a few local leaders confined to the four walls of the city party office."

In press release issued here on Sunday, Mr. Jayaprakash said that he had no comments to offer on the wisdom of the State leaders who were more willing to depend on information provided by some leaders within the TDP urban unit.

"They want to walk away with all the seats in the coming municipal elections. They are worried about my influence and popularity and have fed false information to the State leadership," he added.

Mr. Jayaprakash, who was the president of the city TDP unit, preferred not to react emotionally to his suspension and said he would take a decision about on his future plans at an appropriate time.
