THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: : The police investigating the theft of electronics goods from a shop on the M.G. Road on Friday have so far found no evidence to conclude that the burglars had `broken open' the showroom. According to the police, the shop management had reported the theft of mobile telephones and video cameras valued at Rs.2.68 lakh. The theft is suspected to have occurred in the early hours of Friday. Official sources said the lock on one side of the shutter was found to be missing while the other lock was intact. "There were no iron filings to show that the missing lock was cut on the spot," he said. The police are yet to draw any final conclusions. "We are waiting for the analysis report by the Forensic Sciences Laboratory )FSL) experts, who inspected the scene of crime," he said.
Same shop
A similar theft was reported from the same showroom on April 19 this year. The burglars had entered the shop by cutting the iron bars of a window. The police had prepared the sketches of two suspects after questioning the owner of the hardware shop in Chala from where the burglars were believed to have bought the iron implements for their operation. The management had told the police in April that nearly Rs.18 lakh worth of electronic goods had been stolen.
