Potholed road

Ambujavilasam Road, which connects General Post Office junction at Pulimood and the old GPO Junction at Vanchiyoor, is a narrow road that experiences heavy traffic from dawn to dusk on all working days. There are deep gutters on both sides of the road. As the gutter is not fully filled up, pedestrians and two-wheeler riders find it very difficult to pass through this road. Authorities concerned should initiate steps to cover the gutter with slabs as there is no footpath on the road.

Lax security

The report "Foreign nationals detained at airport" ( The Hindu , 22.07.2005) was worth reading and good food for thought.

What makes one amused was the manner in which security system at the Thiruvananthapuram International Airport functions; particularly when terrorists have begun their operations in all parts of this world, in different ways.

Countries world over are worried over the question of terrorist attacks with all modern devices. But, here, in the capital city of Kerala, any terrorist group can pass through the security, without any verifications worth name. At this rate, many anti-national elements and personnel affiliated to terrorist groups might have gone to other parts of world.

The two foreigners, with fake passports, were deported by the Doha airport authorities when they found the duo travelling on fake passports. That is true vigil and it was owing to this they were caught. Our authorities will wake up only after some untoward happens. Instead of maintaining vigil, they allow foreign nationals to board flights using fake passports.
