NEW DELHI: The family of Daljeet Singh, allegedly threatened by a team of the Special Cell of the Delhi police at Mansarovar Garden in West Delhi on Saturday, alleged on Sunday that two of their acquaintances were missing since Saturday evening. Talking to media persons here, Daljeet's family said Gurbaksh Singh, who according to the police had threatened another family and also attacked the police team in yesterday's incident, and one Harminder were missing. They alleged that the police were not helping them in tracing the two men. However, the police claimed that the two were absconding and that they were on a lookout for them. Earlier, a vigilance inquiry was ordered by the Delhi Police Commissioner, K.K. Paul, on Saturday following allegations that the Assistant Commissioner of Police, Rajbir Singh, had fired in air to scare Daljeet's family. However, the police had claimed that it was the Special Cell team which was beaten up by Gurbaksh and his associates. Residents claimed that a vacant plot of 300 square yards in Mansarovar Garden was at the centre of a dispute between Daljeet and one Vijender. While Daljeet had bought half of the plot, the other half was bought by Vijender. Daljeet, however, wanted the entire plot and allegedly roped in Gurbaksh to settle the deal. Gurbaksh, along with his associates, had gone to Vijender's house on Saturday ostensibly to work out a deal. But Vijender did not agree as the price being offered was well below the market value of the plot. An argument ensued following which someone who knew the Special Cell officers informed them about the same. The police claimed that when the three-member team -- comprising Inspector Lalit Mohan Negi, Assistant Sub-Inspector Umesh and Head Constable Sudheer -- reached the spot, Gurbaksh and his associates attacked them with swords and baseball bats. They were forced to take refuge in a nearby house from where they informed Rajbir Singh. Inspector Negi and ASI Umesh, who reportedly sustained head injuries in the incident, were taken to Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Hospital. According to the police, before Rajbir reached the spot, the local police reached there and brought the situation under control. The residents, however, alleged that Rajbir reached there and fired shots in the air to scare Daljeet's family. He also allegedly beat up his son. The police however denied there was any firing.
