Youth found murdered in Aralur

BANGALORE: A 25-year-old youth was found murdered in the Koramangala police station limits on Sunday. The police said the assailants had hacked the victim to death elsewhere and dumped the body in Aralur village.

The victim's identity and the motive for the murder have not been established. The body was shifted to Victoria Hospital for post-mortem. The Koramangala police have taken up a case of murder. Investigation is in progress.

Murder bid

An attempt to murder a man over a financial dispute was reported from the Old Madivala region on Saturday. The victim, Mani (32), was admitted to the St. John's Hospital here with severe stab injuries on his neck. The police later arrested the accused Hrudayaraj (50). The two were residents of a slum in Old Madivala.

Robbed of cash

A shopkeeper, Jaffer Sharief, and his son, Sharief, were robbed of Rs. 3.69 lakh in cash after being threatened with a knife by a four-member gang in the R.M.C. Yard police station limits on Saturday.

At about 9.30 p.m., the victims were returning to their house in Yeshwanthapur after closing shop when the culprits intercepted their motorcycle and forced them to part with the cash. The R.M.C. Yard police are investigating.

Arrested

The K.G. Halli police arrested Firoze and his associate and recovered two two-wheelers worth about Rs. 60,000 on Thursday. The vehicles were allegedly stolen from the Frazer Town police station limits for their personal use, the police said.

Two more persons, Viji alias Ravi (30) of Mathikere and Arul Das (32) of D.J. Halli were also arrested by the K.G. Halli police, who recovered gold jewellery, two cars and a two-wheeler. The jewellery and vehicles were allegedly stolen from the Vijayanagar, Vidyaranyapura and Banasawadi police station limits.

The two accused were using the money to get their imprisoned associates out on bail, the police said.

The Vijayanagar police arrested Aruna (18), a resident of Keregodu Hobli in Mandya district, and recovered a tile polishing machine, three marble cutting machines and a dressing table, in all valued at about Rs. 52,000. The articles were allegedly stolen from two houses in the Vijayanagar and Indiranagar police limits.

The Jayanagar police recovered Rs. 4.4 lakhs cash, allegedly stolen by Manjaiah (33), an office boy of a financial company in Jayanagar. The accused, a native of Bhatkal in Karwar district, was arrested, the police said.

The Commercial Street police arrested V. Kumar (21) and R. Venkatesh (21) of Tamil Nadu and recovered four two-wheelers, in all valued at Rs. 1.3 lakhs on Friday.

The two were caught when they were allegedly trying to change the registration number plate of the vehicles, the police said.

Recovering

In another incident, a Congress activist Shankar, who was injured in a clash between two groups in Venkatapura on Friday, is recovering. Shankar is the son of KSRP police inspector, Subramani.
