Competition

Chitrakala Academy will organise a national level art competition for schoolchildren (standards I to X). Those interested can submit paintings to Chitrakala Academy, 38/2, Ist Main Road, Mount Joy Extension, Hanumanth Nagar, before August 8. For details contact Ph: 26670093.

Interactive session

Oxford Book Store will organise an interactive session with Allen Mendonca, columnist and actor, and Annie Chandy Mathew, writer and publisher, on the launch of Cha Writers Club to encourage amateur writers who have a flair for writing but do not have the works published till now, on Monday in the book store at Leela Palace.

Medical camp

Rotary Club of Peenya will organise a free medical camp, "Sanjeevini", from August 1 to August 7. The camp will cover eye problems, dental, diabetes. There will a general health check-up for schoolchildren.

Sign language courses

The Sign Language Department of Dr. S.R. Chandrasekhar Institute of Speech and Hearing will conduct Level "I" and Level "A" Basic Indian Sign Language courses from August 8 for three months. Those interested can contact Ph: 25460405, 25470037, Extension 42, or email: signersworld@yahoo.com.

Self-defence camp
