Letters to the Editor
The editorial "Lost magic of Ayodhya" (Aug. 1) rightly says these are trying times for L.K. Advani and he has to do some tightrope walking. With Atal Bihari Vajpayee in retirement mode, Mr. Advani needs to build an image for himself that is acceptable to most of India. The next election may well be sans Mr. Vajpayee. If Mr. Advani can rework his image, India may see another Vajpayee on its political horizon. At stake is also the BJP's identity as a free entity.
B.S. Ramakrishna,
Although the people are fed up with the histrionics of our politicians demanding the resignation of the so-called `tainted' among them, another round of useless discussions, shouting and walkouts in Parliament seems to be in the offing over Mr. Advani.
S. Rajagopalan,
