NEW DELHI: Cinema lovers can now look forward to Francophone films. The "Best of French Cinema", featuring films by acclaimed directors begins at Alliance Francaise de Delhi here this coming Friday. Organised jointly by Alliance Francaise de Delhi and the Embassy of France, the two-month-long film festival will be screening two shows at 5 p.m. and 7-30 p.m. on Fridays. "Le Coeur Des Hommes" (French Men) revolves round four friends who are at a turning point in their lives. Confronted with peculiar situations, the friends confide in each other and reflect on their lives. The film, directed by Marc Esposito, will be screened on August 5. The film "La Chambre Des Officiers" (The Officers Ward) -- to be screened on August 12 -- is about an attractive lieutenant named Adrien, who gets hit by shellfire while on a reconnaissance mission. Alive yet disfigured, he spends five years at the officers' quarters. "A La Petite Semaine" (Nickel And Dime) is the story of three men whose dreams interweave but whose destinies differ. Directed by Sam Karmann, the film -- whose cast includes Gerard Lanvin, Jacques Gamblin and Clovis Cornillac -- will be screened on August 26. "Comment Jai Tue Mon Pere" (How I Killed My Father) is about an anti-aging specialist whose clientele includes stressed-out managers and wealthy ladies. Life is running smoothly for the protagonist until the day his forgotten father storms into his life. Directed by Anne Fontaine the film, honoured with Cesar 2002 award for the best actor, will be screened on September 2. "Les Egares" (Strayed), to be screened on September 9, is about a Frenchman who gets caught up in widespread panic following Germany's onslaught. He flees the place with his two children for safety. He drives on overcrowded roads but hunger and thirst begin to overcome him and his little ones. "Son Frere" (His Brother), directed by acclaimed director Patrice Chereau, revolves round a man, Thomas, who is sitting on his deathbed. The film will be shown on September 16. "Lesquive" (Games of Love And Chance), to be screened on September 23, is about a girl named Lydia. Her classmate falls for her and wants to declare his love to her. "Violence Des Echanges En Milieu Tempere" (Word Hard, Play Hard) is about a young man who takes up a job in a consulting firm and his first assignment is to take over a large corporation. The film will be shown on September 30.
