IN FULL FLOW: Actress Urmila Matondkar performing at the first-ever Pogo Amazing Kids Awards in 2004.
NEW DELHI: The Indian "idol'' might have been found more than once. A different icon for every channel, Cartoon Network and POGO Channel is making a "small'' space for one more. Not the usual song, dance or acting routine, this time the tiny tot channel is looking at real achievement. An award with a difference, it will for once not be about grown-ups. Felicitating "tiny" wonders, POGO Kid Awards 2005 is about giving the most important members in families a chance to take centre-stage -- finally. "POGO Amazing Kids Awards celebrates children's' achievements, voices the choice of Indian kids and is the country's only televised kids' awards. Delighted by the overwhelming response and participation the awards received last year, the show this year aims to raise the benchmark for children's awards in the country and provide a platform for extraordinary accomplishments of the Indian kids,'' says Vivek Krishnani, Director Marketing, Cartoon Network and POGO India. Inviting nominations from kids and their schools, the channel is on a hunt for young heroes. Not a kids' award that is "dumbed down", the channel is going the whole distance by looking for bright kids in different areas of excellence such as arts, leadership, sports and academics. This year POGO is inviting nominations from parents and principals of bright kids apart from nominations from kids themselves. o find out which category they fit into, kids can tune into the channel and fill up an entry form which is available on www.pogo.tv. Kids who might not be media-savvy can collect the form from any Bata or Reliance Web World outlets across the country. Those who want to stand on the sidelines and vote can send their votes online to www.pogo.tv or sms or visit a voting booth to be set up in the city.
