Naikar's statue to be installed in Dharwad

DHARWAD: The Mayor, Hanumanthappa Betageri, has said that a statue of the late D.K. Naikar, former Minister and former President of the Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee, will be installed in Hubli-Dharwad in recognition of his contribution to the growth of the twin cities.

Mr. Betageri was speaking at a function held here on Sunday to pay tributes to Naikar on his sixth death anniversary.

Mr. Betageri recalled the guidance he had received from Naikar. The announcement on the statue installation was endorsed by Subash Shinde, corporator. S.R. Morey, Minister for Municipal Administration, who garlanded the portrait of Naikar, recalled how by his unique personality, Naikar had won respect from different segments of society.
