New prize categories for National Laser

HYDERABAD: A string of new prize categories has been added to the National Laser sailing championships that will be held at the Hussain Sagar here from August 18 to 23.

These will cover age groups ranging from 17 to 54 years, said Milind Prabhu, Organising Secretary of the Hyderabad Sailing Week.

Following are the new categories: a) Youth: Radial under 17 and standard rig under 19 years; b) Women: Radial; c) apprentice radial for sailors between 35 and 44 years; d) apprentice standard: 35 to 44 years; e) Masters Radial category: 45 to 54 years; f) Masters standard category: 45 to 54 years.

The pride of place will however be reserved for the Lt. Cdr. Kelly S. Rao Trophy, which will be awarded to the sailor who tops the Laser Standard fleet without discards. — Special Correspondent
